Week 27

I have been having a MAJOR craving these past few weeks.. A VERY COLD glass of milk! I crave this at least twice a day, if not more.. especially when I wake up and right before bed. I actually put it in the freezer for about 8 minutes before I drink it, so it gets VERY cold! I crave it so much that I even took a glass on the way to Atlanta and when I was out, I almost stopped at a gas station to get more! I hope this means Brody will love milk :)

Update from BabyCenter.com
: This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

Week 26

This weekend we got SO much done! On Friday night, we moved ALL of our furniture into our garage to get ready for the carpet cleaners the next day.. Whew that was nuts! I didn't of course carry anything heavy, Max and Brent actually did everything! Saturday the carpet cleaners got here about 8am and we set this up (picture above) in the garage because the fumes were just too strong for me. It only took him about 2 hours, so that was good! We had to let it dry for 6 hours though, so we went over to Amy's to help set up her electric fence. When we got back, we moved our furniture back in.. We moved Mac down to his new room in our office, Zane into Max's room, and Brody's room is empty! Whew, I am so glad that is done! We can finally start on his nursery!! There were some pretty bad stains in his room (Zane's old room) that I didn't know about. The guy got them up as best as he could, so we are still going to have to get an area rug to cover some. I actually "spot" painted the whole house too and even painted the baseboards.. It's been a couple of years since we painted the house and it was time for some touch-ups! What a weekend! We accomplished so much!

Update from BabyCenter.com: The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days.

Week 25

Tess' lingerie shower started my 25th week of pregnancy! We all went out for her Bachelorette afterwards to Figo Pasta in Little Five Points. We had a great time. By the end of the night, I had major cankles. :) I also got to see Alison for the first time since she went to finish college in Florida. She is so excited to meet Baby Brody!

Also, I had a doctor's appointment Friday. Went well.. They are estimating Brody at 2 1/2 to 3 pounds! (NOTE: Look at the average weight at this point below.. He's gonna be big!!)

Update from BabyCenter.com: Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. His weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than a rutabaga, but he's beginning to exchange his long, lean look for some baby fat. As he does, his wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and he'll start to look more and more like a newborn. He's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

Week 24

On Tuesday, I had to go and take the most dreaded lab test while being pregnant.. This is the glucose drink I had to drink to test for gestational diabetes. It was ABSOLUTELY disgusting! The only flavor they had was Lemon Lime and I had to drink it in 5 minutes and sit for an hour until they could finally take 2 vials of blood.. so boring! The drink was so thick and it took everything I had not to GAG! It didn't help that I was starving either. Anyway, I am just glad it is finally over. Haven't gotten a call with results, which means I am good.

I also had my 24 week check-up, since it was canceled last week. Everything is great and they are estimating Brody Jett at 2 1/2 pounds. If you look below at the update from babycenter.com you will notice what the "average" is at this point in pregnancy.. Just over a pound.

Update from BabyCenter.com:
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long, he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Week 23: Swollen

Whew, what a week! My interning has finally started and I am so pooped! Monday thru Thursday, I am up at 5:30a and get home around 6:45pm. I make sure I don't over-do it, but I fall asleep as soon as I hit the pillow at night! A major "ugh" this week has been being swollen! My ankles are taking the brunt of it. I am on my feet all day (I sit down when I get tired), so I notice it at night. I am trying to drink LOTS of water during the day to prevent this. The downside is that I have to pee literally every 5 seconds during class and at work! I am also trying to eat less salt because Tuesday my wedding ring wouldn't even fit! After a busy week, I am looking forward to my 24-week check up tomorrow and a relaxing, 3-day weekend with my wonderful husband.

I have also picked out my travel system this week. I originally registered for one at Babys-R-Us, but I actually saw one I liked better from a child at CCS. After researching, this Graco travel system isn't available at Babys-R-Us.. only at Target. My mom is going to buy it for us in the next few weeks! :)

Update from BabyCenter.com: Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With his sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that he's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound, you may be able to see him squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing him for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze him when he hears them outside the womb.
